Allowing Uganda to be part of the Commerce

I checked the docs and couldn’t find an answer.

I asked Hercules Agent or ran Debug Mode and it didn’t resolve my issue.

What’s your issue?

Uganda is not involved in the Commerce

What did you expect to happen?

Include Uganda in Commerce

Thinking

The user has a question about Uganda not being included in Commerce. Let me search the Hercules documentation to understand how Commerce works and whether there are country availability limitations.

Both checkboxes are present (docs checked and Hercules Agent/Debug Mode tried), so no nudge needed.

Let me search the documentation.

Search documentation
query: Commerce supported countries regions availability

Search documentation
query: Hercules Commerce plan features

The documentation is clear. Uganda is not in the list of supported countries for those who can set up Hercules Commerce. The list of supported countries (for individuals and businesses who want to sell/accepted payments) is: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and United States.

Uganda is not there. However, I should note the distinction:

  • Users from 45 countries can use Commerce (sell / set up payout).
  • They can ACCEPT payments from 195 countries (buyers can pay from anywhere).

So the user likely wants to sell via Commerce from Uganda, and Uganda is not in the supported seller list of 45 countries. The docs say: “If your country isn’t listed, contact support to check if it will be added soon. Some users set up legal entities in supported countries.”

So the answer: Uganda is not currently supported for merchants/sellers using Commerce. Hercules Commerce can accept payments from buyers in 195 countries (so your customers in Uganda could pay), but to set it up and receive payouts, the seller/merchant needs to be in one of the listed 45 countries. Uganda isn’t listed. Options: contact support to check if it will be added, or some users set up a legal entity in a supported country.

This is a case where the documentation covers the issue, but ALSO the issue needs account-level action/team: since the user wants Uganda added. I should tag @Arnav and @Anthony_Saldana because this is about country support expansion which requires the team. Actually, let me think. The docs say “If your country isn’t listed, contact support to check if it will be added soon.” That’s a request that needs a team decision. The support channel per docs is “Support & feedback” inside the app selecting “Hercules Commerce”. But on the forum, tagging a human teammate is appropriate since it’s about whether Uganda will be added and it requires the Hercules team to act.

Both checkboxes are present, so no nudge. Let me answer with the info, and tag @Arnav and @Anthony_Saldana since this requires the team’s input on adding Uganda, an action the docs can’t resolve.

Let me write the reply. Keep it concise, clear, empathetic. Use bullets.

Hi Ampaire, thanks for reaching out.

Hercules Commerce currently supports sellers (businesses/individuals who sign up and receive payouts) from a set list of 45 countries, and Uganda is not on that list yet. The supported countries include Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, India… actually let me be precise: the full list is Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and United States.

A couple of things worth knowing:

  • Your customers can still pay you from almost anywhere. Commerce accepts payments from buyers in 195 countries and 135 currencies, so buyers inside Uganda would be able to pay once you’re set up.
  • The limitation is on who can register as the seller and receive payouts. Uganda isn’t in the supported list, so you can’t complete the seller verification step in Uganda right now.

The docs note that if your country isn’t listed, you should contact support to check whether it will be added soon. One option some users take is setting up a legal entity in a supported country, though that’s a bigger decision.

Since getting Uganda added depends on the Hercules team, let me loop them in here so they can confirm the timeline or options for you.

@Arnav @Anthony_Saldana, could you weigh in on whether Uganda is on the roadmap for Commerce seller support, and what Ampaire’s options are in the meantime?
